Dr. Meg Kaemmer

Dr. Kaemmer joined Animal Medical Center in August of 2014. Dr. Kaemmer was a division I college soccer starter at the University of Louisville in the ACC for 2 years before hanging up the cleats to focus on her career and family. She finished her 4-year undergraduate Biology degree at Rockhurst University in Kansas City in 2003. Dr Kaemmer graduated in 2007 from Kansas State University with her Veterinary Medicine degree and has been practicing small animal medicine in the Kansas City area since graduation.

Dr. Kaemmer enjoys well visits, ophthalmology, dental surgery, and soft tissue surgery. Forever an athlete, she has a passion for diet and exercise and loves to share her knowledge with whomever asks. In her free time, she enjoys anything that involves sunshine and water, watching reality TV, such as Survivor, walking her two Labs, Ava, and George, and attending many of her three children’s various activities. She loves crazy socks, coffee, Haribo gummy bears, and sports.

Dr. Jennifer McMeans

I decided I was going to be a veterinarian when I was three years old. I believe that God gives us a passion and calling in our lives and helping animals is mine. I went to undergrad and Veterinary School at Kansas State University. I have been practicing general medicine for the last 10 years. I love the mission of helping people by helping their animals. I have also developed a passion for rescue and community outreach/education while working at a non-profit organization. I am currently fostering for a rescue group. I like working up medical cases and skin issues. I also like providing hospice care for our geriatric patients.

I have three children and multiple pets so my life is pretty busy and beautifully chaotic! My kids and my animals are my life. My kids are very active and into gymnastics and soccer. They have also developed the love for animals and encourage the habit of taking on fosters/rescues. I keep telling them and myself though that we can’t keep them all because then we won’t be able to help the next one that needs our care! The ages of my animals range from 8 years to 10 months. I have two dogs: Justin, 8, and Charlie, 10 months. Britney, 14, and Miley, 13, will forever remain in my heart as I always tell the kids that Britney was my first baby! I have two cats: Cheech, 6 and Maggie, 5 months. Maggie came into the clinic as a neonate when I was on call and had to be bottle-fed. She has congenital medical issues so I have adopted her and she will get to live out her life being spoiled. Maggie’s best friend is our Bunny, Emma. They can often be found snuggled up together. Emma was found loose wandering the streets and was brought into the shelter. She enjoys her fresh veggies and hay and outside play time when its nice.

When I’m not working I like to do DIY/craft projects around the house. I love shopping at the west bottoms and re-purposing old furniture. I also like to help out at Church and spend time with my family. I grew up in Overland Park and much of my extended family lives in this area. I currently live in Tonganoxie, KS. When I first got Britney I was just starting vet school and we lived in houses that were split up into apartments and had little yard space. I promised her that one day she would be able to have plenty of area to run and I was able to keep that promise!

Since graduating from veterinary school, he has been in small animal practice in the Kansas City area before coming to Animal Medical Center in 2025. His professional interests include internal medicine, dentistry, and parasitology. When not working Kyle enjoys going to the lake, working in the yard and an annual round of golf. He also enjoys playing with his three children and taking them to and from their many activities.

A proud Wyandotte resident, Mary has lived her whole life in the Kansas City area and used to be an inventory specialist in several of the Kansas City metropolitan stores. She prides herself on remembering faces and stories and loves to chat with anyone who will listen. Paige Borgeson

Paige is a Kansas City native who has always had a passion for helping and caring for animals. She started at Animal Medical Center in 2020 in hopes of becoming a vet tech. Her future plans are to move into the radiology field and use those skills to help rescue at-risk marine life.

When Paige isn’t loving up at pups at work, she is at home lounging with her very lazy dog. She also enjoys going to pop-ups with her girlfriend to help support small local businesses around Kansas City.

Brooke Weiss

Brooke comes to Animal Medical Center after gaining 12 years of experience with Petsmart’s Pet Hotel. There she started as an entry level boarding attendant and worked her way up to hotel manager. She came to AMC seeking to get away from the corporate grind and to join our family atmosphere. She was also wanting more autonomy by being able to use what she had learned and make things more her own.

Brooke loves to be around dogs and cats and it doesn’t take long to see that the dogs and cats love her. She speaks to pets like they are people and we think that along with her calm assertiveness they understand about every word. It takes a special person to love and spend as much time and energy caring for your pets like Brooke does.

When Brooke is not caring for other people’s pets she enjoys being out in nature, going to dog parks with her two dogs River and Willow, hiking and photography. She also has a rescue cat named Penny she adopted from AMC.

Brooke and her team are always looking for more pets to play with and to add her ever growing herd of animals that spend time at AMC. If you are interested in sharing your pets with Brooke, please come meet her and learn more about our Boarding and Doggie Day Care.

Piper Holloway

Hello, I’m Piper Holloway. Over the last couple of years, I have had the pleasure of working with animals at Vetco/Petco, Pet Works and currently at Animal Medical Center. My passion for animals has been consistent since childhood, earning me the title of “family vet” from a young age. I’ve cared for a diverse range of pets, including dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, a rabbit, a hamster, and numerous fish (though they aren’t my specialty!). I even had the unique experience of caring for a newborn fawn (Luna) for a short time.

My dog is my best friend (my cat a very close second), and we spend lots of time together on car rides, walking trails, and dog parks. My cat and I spend time together caring for my grandma, as she won’t let me come over without him (lol). I grew up in Belton, Missouri, and graduated high school in 2023. Looking ahead, I plan to gain further experience toward a Veterinary Assistant and to eventually obtain my certification as a Veterinary Technician

Lizzy Miledi

When I was growing up, I always wanted to become a veterinarian. Any animal I met I absolutely fell in love with. I have never lived somewhere and not had a furry friend next to me. I started working at an animal shelter at the beginning of 2017, and that was my life for a good while. Fostering all different animals like rats, snakes, frail old kitties that need a soft place to pass, to kittens that need to be bottle fed every 4 hours. (I ended up adopting 4 rats after fostering some.) I had the pleasure of creating the enrichment program, which specifically focused on the dogs having the hardest time at the shelter. My job was to make their lives the best it could be while they waited for their forever family. I’ve driven hours and hours to bring a dog to their new home because the family fell in love with a dog while they were just passing by from vacation.

Along with working my regular hours at the shelter, I volunteered there to learn more about the shy, scared, and behavioral dogs—the ones that were looked over a lot of times. So, I spent that extra time with them, understanding that all they need is kindness and all the patience in the world.

Once Covid hit, I ended up leaving the shelter and began the certification process of becoming a dog groomer! Not only do I love making your animals look good, but I also love trying to make the grooming process as stress-free as possible. After four years working for Petco, I decided to leave corporate and continue expanding my knowledge within the animal world.

I started working for Animal Medical Center in June 2024 and am ecstatic about the future!

When I am not grooming, I love to spend time with my own babies. I have six pets at the moment. 2 dogs, two cats, and two reptiles. I adopted my first dog, Willow. My boy Linus was a dog at the shelter that got adopted and returned four times, so I finally brought him home. The cat distribution system worked on me two different times with Omi and Gus Gus. Our 10 ft Carpet Python, Serenity, is neurological and requires special attention. Then we have Waldo, my tiny little Jackson Chameleon.

I also enjoy spending my time with my family, creating art of all kinds, and living life the kindest you can.

Briahna Alonso

Briahna started working at Animal Medical Center in July 2024. She was born in Texas but has moved around throughout the years and has now settled in the Waldo area. Growing up, she has always had a love of animals and finally had the opportunity to work with them in the vet field in 2020. She is a mom to two miniature Aussies, Kaia and Taffy. When she is off, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, long walks with the dogs, puzzling, bowling, and pickleball.

Taylor Gunn

I started working at Animal Medical Center in the Spring of 2024. I cannot express how thrilled I was when I found out I got the job. I felt like I was finally going to be somewhere I belonged. From little me, I always remember having the most endless love and care for animals. Let’s just say I have always favored animals over humans. During my childhood, I lived on a farm with my mom and dad while being an only child. I always was out and about on my four-wheeler, driving around the bottoms. If not riding four-wheelers, I was playing with toys or spending time with friends. My mom is an absolute lover of animals, so while I was growing up, I remember always going to see animals at PetSmart. The zoo was our favorite day. I remember my mom took in three flying squirrels and a red squirrel. It was always so fun checking in on them.

As I get older, animals are more and more my soft spot. I want to make a difference and help them have an easier life whatever way I can. Make that tail wag just one more time, one more treat or more cuddles anyway I can to make them the happiest. They deserve the simplest and happiest life.Once I graduated high school, I started moving closer to the city.

I am twenty-one years old and live in Kansas City with my boyfriend and our two dogs, Tamala and Psilo. In my spare time, I love going to the Kansas City Zoo to see my boyfriend, who works there. As for any hobbies, makeup is my go-to. I believe makeup is more than just MAKEUP. I see it as an escape from reality. The imagination is endless. I also enjoy coloring and painting anything artsy. I enjoy board or card games. I absolutely love the Sour Patch Kids Watermelon. They are the best. I also like anything salty, though my favorite would be Doritos or Cheetos. My favorite colors are Black and Neon colors. I’d say my favorite dog breed would be Pitbull, and cat breed would be Maine Coon. My plans in the future are to be able to foster.
So enough about me. Call Animal Medical Center, and I may be one of the receptionists who takes your call. I can’t wait to meet you and your pet!
